Owners Jeff and Loriel holding Pure Blendz Acai Bowl

About Us

Pure Blendz opened with one philosophy — pure over processed. We wanted to create a space where people can enjoy superfoods like acai, pitaya and kombucha; foods that not only taste great but are great for you too.

It all started when Jeff, a Louisville native, moved to San Diego where he fell in love with acai bowls and a beautiful southern California girl named Loriel too. Together, they started blending superfood smoothie bowls and brewing kombucha in their small apartment in Pacific Beach while finding inspiration from cafes all over California and throughout their travels. Eventually they decided to move to Louisville to see if people would love superfoods like this as much as they do.

We believe that life is meant to be enjoyed, that food is a big part of that, and that eating healthy doesn't need to be boring — it can be fun, satisfying and rewarding. Come by and check out our superfood smoothie bowls, avocado toast, kombucha, lemonade tea fogs and more. Dishes that are healthy, pure and delicious... the way nature intended them to be.

About Superfoods

Acai

“King of Superfoods”

It may be funny to pronounce at first, but açaí ("ah-sigh-ee") is one of the purest, most nutritious foods on the planet. It is a dark, purple berry that grows on palm trees in the Amazon Rainforest (where it helps prevent deforestation). The flavor is a mix between berries, dark chocolate & red wine.

Benefits
Antioxidant powerhouse… 500% more than blueberries • Packed full of electrolytes • Anti-aging effects for skin & hair

Pitaya

“Dragon Fruit”

This exotic looking fruit grows on cactus throughout Mexico, Central America & Southeast Asia. Its beautiful red skin produces a vibrant pink color when blended up. It has a mildly sweet & refreshing taste with the consistency of a kiwi or watermelon.

Benefits
Full of fiber to boost metabolism • Excellent source of magnesium • Rich in Vitamin C

Kombucha

“Living Tea”

Kombucha is a slightly fermented & carbonated tea. During fermentation, the yeast breaks down the sugar & caffeine & releases healthy bacteria known as probiotics. It's a refreshing, bubbly drink that's mildly tangy & flavored with fruits & spices.

Benefits
Great for gut health • Helps reduce inflammation & acid reflux • Reduces toxins in liver

Matcha

Green Tea

Matcha is 100% green tea leaves that are stone-ground into a fine powder. Rather than steeping a tea bag & extracting only a fraction of the benefits, here you are consuming the entire leaf. It has a richer, more buttery flavor than regular green tea that leaves a sweet aftertaste.

Benefits
Increases energy & metabolism • Enhances mood & focus • Lowers cholesterol & blood sugar

Cacao Nibs

“Nature's chocolate chip”

Cacao nibs are chocolate in its purest form with no additives. Cocao beans are roasted, fermented & then crushed to produce small, dark bits we call "nibs". They are naturally low in sugar & have a slightly bitter chocolate flavor.

Benefits
Quality source of protein & fiber • Lowers blood pressure • Anti-inflammatory properties

Bee Pollen

“Bee Bread”

Bee pollen is a mixture of flower pollen, nectar, enzymes, honey & wax. It takes 1 bee working 8 hrs/day for 1 month to gather just 1 tsp! Respect. It is considered one of nature's most completely nourishing foods & tastes like a hint of powdered honey.

Benefits
Defense for seasonal allergies • Rich in protein…twice as any animal source • Abundant in amino acids

Spirulina

Blue-green algae

It is one the oldest life forms on Earth that produced a massive amount of our early planet's oxygen. Aztec messenger runners took spirulina on their marathons from city to city & now NASA uses as a supplement for astronauts during space travel. It has a strong earthy taste & deep, green color.

Benefits
Detoxes heavy metals from the body • Boosts muscle endurance • Incredibly high in B vitamins & iron

Goji Berries

“Happy berry”

This festive bright red berry comes from a shrub that's native to Asia. Legends say that goji berries were eaten by monks in the Himalayan Mountains to help aid meditation & obtain vitality. They come dried like raisins & have a sweet & mildly sour taste.

Benefits
Improves sexual stamina • Heightens sense of well-being • Strengths immune system

CBD

Hemp extract

CBD stands for “cannabidiol” which is a natural compound that comes from the hemp plant. CBD oil is made by extracting CBD from hemp, then diluting it in coconut or hemp seed oil. It has zero psychoactive effect, is 100% legal & is known for its healing properties.

Benefits
Pain & inflammation reduction • Anxiety & depression relief • Promotes better quality sleep
